Preparing the Plumbing for a Bath Removal

A customer contacted us because they wanted to remove the existing bath as part of changes to their bathroom.

Before the bath could be taken out, the connected water pipework needed to be dealt with properly. We attended the property to cut back the existing pipes and safely isolate them so the customer could continue with the work.

The Client

The customer was carrying out changes to their bathroom and wanted the existing bath removed.

They needed the connected plumbing altered first so the bath could be taken out without leaving live water pipes behind.

The Goal

The aim was to disconnect the bath from the property's water supply and leave the existing pipework safely isolated.

This would allow the bath to be removed and give the customer a safe starting point for the next stage of their bathroom renovation.

How We Did It

Step 1 — Assessing the Existing Pipework

We first inspected the plumbing connected to the bath and identified the sections of pipework that needed to be disconnected.

This allowed us to determine where the pipes could be cut and isolated while leaving the rest of the property's plumbing unaffected.

Step 2 — Cutting Back the Pipework

The existing water pipework supplying the bath was carefully cut back to disconnect it from the plumbing system.

Removing the unnecessary sections of pipe meant the bath could be taken out without leaving redundant pipework in the way of the renovation.

Step 3 — Safely Isolating the Pipes

Once the pipework had been cut back, the remaining water pipes were securely blocked off and isolated.

We then checked the work to make sure the existing plumbing system could be used normally without any leaks from the disconnected bath supplies.

The Work

Disconnecting the Bath

The customer wanted to remove the bath as part of changes to the bathroom, but the existing water supplies first needed to be disconnected safely.

We inspected the plumbing serving the bath and identified the appropriate points to cut the existing pipework without unnecessarily disturbing the rest of the system.

The water pipes supplying the bath were cut back to remove the connections that were no longer required.

The remaining pipework was then securely blocked off, leaving the water system safely isolated from the area where the bath had been connected.

Leaving the Bathroom Ready for the Next Stage

With the redundant pipework removed and the remaining supplies safely isolated, the customer was able to continue with the bath removal and bathroom renovation.

The existing plumbing remained operational elsewhere in the property, with the disconnected bath supplies left secure and ready for any future alterations.

The Results

The bath was successfully disconnected from the property's water supply, allowing it to be removed without leaving active pipework behind.

The unnecessary sections of pipe were cut back and the remaining connections were securely isolated.

This gave the customer a clean and safe starting point for the next stage of their bathroom work while keeping the rest of the plumbing system operational.

The job was a straightforward but important plumbing alteration that allowed the renovation to continue safely and without unnecessary disruption.
