Blocked Soil Pipe, Shower Tray and Bath Drain Clearance
Clearing Multiple Blockages in the Bathroom Drainage
A customer contacted us after experiencing drainage problems affecting several parts of their bathroom.
The soil pipe, shower tray and bath were all blocked, causing water to drain slowly or not clear properly. We attended the property to locate and clear each blockage and get the bathroom drainage working normally again.
How We Did It
Step 1 — Checking the Blocked Outlets
We started by checking the soil pipe, shower tray and bath to see how each outlet was draining.
This allowed us to confirm that the problem affected multiple parts of the bathroom drainage rather than a single waste connection.
Step 2 — Plunging and Clearing the Blockages
We used plunging to work through the blockages and restore movement through the affected waste pipework.
The bath and shower tray were cleared individually, while the blockage affecting the soil pipe was also worked free so the main drainage route could flow properly again.
Step 3 — Testing the Drainage
Once the blockages had been cleared, we ran water through the bath and shower to check that both were draining correctly.
The soil pipe was also checked to confirm that wastewater was flowing away freely without backing up into the bathroom.
The Work
Identifying the Drainage Problem
The drainage problem was affecting several bathroom outlets, with both the bath and shower tray struggling to drain correctly.
The soil pipe was also blocked, meaning the issue extended further into the bathroom's waste system and needed to be cleared before normal drainage could be restored.
Clearing the Bath and Shower
We worked on the bath and shower tray individually, using a plunger to create enough pressure through the waste pipework to break up and move the blockages.
Once the restrictions began to clear, we continued working the drains until water was moving freely through both outlets again.
Clearing and Testing the Soil Pipe
The blockage affecting the soil pipe was also cleared, restoring the main waste route serving the bathroom.
We then tested the bathroom drainage together to make sure the bath, shower and soil pipe were all carrying wastewater away correctly without further backing up.
The Results
The blockages affecting the bath, shower tray and soil pipe were successfully cleared.
Using plunging, we were able to restore flow through the affected waste pipework without unnecessary alterations to the bathroom.
Once cleared, each outlet was tested to make sure water was draining away correctly and no longer backing up.
The customer was left with the bathroom drainage working normally again across the bath, shower and main soil pipe.
