Replacing an Older Boiler With a New Combi System

A homeowner contacted us to replace their existing boiler with a new combi boiler and update the surrounding pipework as part of the installation.

The job involved removing the old boiler, adapting and repiping the existing connections, installing the new combi boiler and then thoroughly testing the completed heating and hot water system.

The Client

The customer was a homeowner looking to replace their existing boiler with a modern combi boiler.

They wanted the old system removed cleanly and the new boiler properly integrated with the existing heating and hot water installation.

The Goal

The aim was to remove the existing boiler and install a new combi boiler capable of providing reliable heating and hot water throughout the property.

The surrounding pipework also needed to be altered and repiped where required before the completed system could be tested and commissioned.

How We Did It

Step 1 — Removing the Existing Boiler

We began by safely isolating the existing system and removing the old boiler from the property.

Once removed, we were able to assess the existing connections and determine the pipework alterations required for the new combi boiler.

Step 2 — Repiping and Installing the New Combi Boiler

The existing pipework was altered and repiped where necessary so the new combi boiler could be connected correctly.

We then installed the replacement boiler and connected it into the property's heating, hot water and gas systems.

Step 3 — Refilling, Testing and Commissioning

Once the new boiler and pipework were installed, the heating system was refilled and brought back up to operating pressure.

We then tested the completed installation to confirm the heating, hot water and boiler were operating correctly before completing the job.

The Work

Removing the Old Boiler

The first stage of the project was to isolate and remove the homeowner's existing boiler so the replacement installation could begin.

With the old boiler removed, we had clear access to the existing connections and could identify the alterations needed to accommodate the new combi boiler.

Repiping for the New Combi Boiler

The existing boiler connections were altered and new pipework installed where required to suit the replacement combi boiler.

This allowed the new boiler to be integrated properly with the property's existing central heating and hot water system rather than relying on unsuitable old connections.

Testing the Completed Installation

After the new combi boiler had been fitted and connected, the system was refilled and brought back into operation.

We tested the boiler, heating system, hot water and new pipework to make sure everything was operating correctly and the completed installation was ready for everyday use.

The Results

The homeowner's old boiler was successfully removed and replaced with a modern combi boiler connected into the property's heating and hot water system.

The surrounding pipework was updated and repiped as part of the installation, giving the new boiler the correct connections rather than simply adapting around the old setup.

Once complete, the full system was refilled and tested to confirm that the heating and hot water were working correctly.

The homeowner was left with a clean, modern boiler installation and a heating system ready for normal day-to-day use.
